El Floridita is a Bar - Restaurant specialized in seafood and international food. It is very famous not only for its food but also for its bar and the professionalism of its bartenders. This establishment has obtained numerous national and internation- al prizes in its 197 years of history. This place is also renowned because of the personalities who have visited it and for being considered “The cradle of the Daiquiri”.
An establishment arose under the name of the “queen” of tropical fruits: “The Silver Pineapple” on the corner of Obispo and Monserrate. There, customers could calm their thirst by tasting juices, batters, horchatas, and fruit drinks. Besides, they could find an ardent drink. Towards the end of the 19th century, the first cocktails appeared. They were simple mixtures of juices with rums, gins, vermouth and brandy and predecessors of classic international cocktails. In that moment, the international- ly renowned “DAIQUIRÍ” emerged.
